Process Notes –

This started as a one-note pattern on iPad/AUM/Fugue Machine that was equal parts rests and notes. Running it through MF Randomizer and Scale Bud 2, I split this into three channels – two instances of Strng by Erik Sigth and one instance of iceWorks Kronecker clockwork synth, each individually recorded and also summed to a 4th bus channel.

I copied the first Strng channel and the bus over to Ableton Live 11 Suite.

I then ran these through Stutter Switch by Amazing Noises, Erosion, Gate, Resonator and Redux by Ableton with Erosion, Redux and Resonator progressing through different automations.

Process notes

– 4 tracks of my voice, originally recorded on 29 Oct 2005, processed with Ableton Live and plugins by encoder audio. Melda, iZotope Ozone 9 and Ableton native devices.
– I’m very slowly working on an album using my voice as source material. This was something initiated with Disquiet 0548 called “Prelude In Preparation” & continued on the more recent Disquiet 0603 in “Contagium.” I’ve also released a track named “Forgot” for a Magpie Pirates compilation called Memory, Reflections under the Yeast With Teeth name too.

Process notes
– I didn’t want to be too specific on this one over and above the words “animated” and “suspension.” Leaving lots of space, using high-pass filtering and then contrasting by adding some lower stuff about midway gave me the impression of floating germs – or perhaps nuclear fallout!

“49 Nudes & 6 Dogs In Church Arouse Cops” by Don’t Touch Loretta

The piece might match the form of Beethoven’s Sixth “Pastoral” Symphony using mostly sculpted noise.

This original version of “49 Nudes & 6 Dogs In Church Arouse Cops” was submitted as part of Disquiet Junto Project 0601: Hard Six The Assignment: Let a roll of the dice determine the relative prominence of various parts of a track.

6-sided die rolls were 5, 2, 5, 2, 5, 1. These numbers helped determine the amounts of echo, warp flux, delay, echo offset, EQ freq, limiter ceiling & reverb for each track with 5/6 being highest and 1/6 being lowest. These numbers also determined freqency of occurance in the track as a whole.

I used the following for the original recordings – three takes, one of backyard ambience, one adding xylophone and one primarily using my voice.

“Hurricane Built For Two” by Three Nuts In (Disquiet600)

Process notes –

For this piece, I used an Ableton Live template that I developed for an ongoing (and similar) project with others in Sarah Belle Reid’s Patreon community that we started in Sept 2022. Essentially, it is a way to process samples and then re-process the resampled material. My template also gives me enough flexibility to add/remove elements. For me, it’s just a starting point from which I can grow sample-based materials in a generative manner.

Marcus provided 7 samples for this project but I only used 4 of them.

Sample names –
1 – 600_walking-mfischer
2 – 600_nacre_voit-mfischer
3 – 600_hands_held-mfischer
4 – 600_no_input_matrix_mixer-mfischer

The first three samples were put into my template/devices to pull slices using MIDI files as triggers which were arranged to add randomness to which slice was chosen as well as velocity and probability.

The template channels as used here contain a sampler with some distorted or delay elements added. The resampled results of these were then run through devices that would add some ambience and resonance as well as sample-warp algoriths from Live.

The 4th was only processed by Ableton warp algorithms but per instructions, the piece starts & ends with an unaltered 2 seconds from this sample.
