Quiet

DSC00733

There’s a silence that grows
Between two

When the quiet in their mind
Is replaced by simply nothing

When they come to find
Two were never one

Silence

DSC00657_Crop

I wish you could tell me

How you’d like to be touched
Instead of this
Uncomfortable
Fumbling silence

We should be closer than this

So Far

1-image0-4a_autocontr

I wanted to forget you by now
I wanted to walk away so far so far
So far I can’t do it
So far I’ve gone nowhere

Nowhere

Maybe

1-image0-51_autocontr

Maybe today
I’ll tell you
You make me feel like more
Than just the lonely person
I am

Maybe today
I’ll just wait for you
To tell me the same thing

Walking Coma

1-20110908_195203

All the music light
I can’t hear see

My face is melting
Running down my chin and chest
In little rivulets and streams
Or so it seems

All the love
I can’t feel

Kiss my stone blue lips
But I’ve been through too much
To again have happy dreams
Or so it seems

Everybody Knows I’m

1-IMG_0087

I heard you making speeches up there
I saw you milking this Tipper Gore

Lard whale with a spatula
With smooth even strokes
Your lover snores obsidian bubbles

I have never felt like such a jerk in my life

Somebody find a nurse
Somebody get the methadone
Everybody knows I’m a jerk

We’re all dancing on the Love carpet
Singing with Shirley
Yeah, making sure well-known objects
And their shapes are well destroyed

It’s your party, but
I’m tired of taking orders
Everybody knows I’m a jerk

Instead I Just Took

1-cohesive - spring '83

The day
You kissed me, (if I had
Any sense), I should have said
“This is too painful”
“This is too fast” but
Instead I just took
Whatever I could get

The Grapes, The Grapes

1-IMG01025-20101111-1558

The macrame pancreas
Ride, ride the macrame
Ride ride

A baby becomes a human shield
All that spinach goes to waste
An owl in the broom closet
Singing Civil War
Johnny comes munching bone again
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah

It’s no use baby
You’re not the chick you used to be
I want the tropical rainforests

Dominate me
Make me feel like Pat Boone
I want the grapes
The Cossack girls paint the station purple
I want the grapes
I need the grapes

You just go out
And get hurt again

I Am More Than

Hamlet’s father stole the 8-track
The creaking wheel, the broken strap
The filthy gag of felt

I am more than lengthening
I am more than thickening
I am more than mascara

I am hiding behind the sofa
Don’t hand me that baloney
I found roaches!
I found roaches!
I found roaches!
