GTD and DoIt.im Tuesday Post

Short one today –

Two great things happening this past week – two realizations

  • Putting in a task for “reviewing projects” – helps me catch Next items, Waiting items and anything I may have misfiled or forgot to put a Context on.
  • From the book – the order of action choices
    1. Context
    2. Time available
    3. Energy available
    4. Priority

Have a good week!

Purpose and Principles

I’ve reached a section in the book Getting Things Done which describes what natural planning is.  It takes us through five phases –

Defining purpose and principles Outcome visioning
Brainstorming
Organizing
Identifying next actions

This is great.  David illustrates why purpose and principles must come first and why this is a successful order by showing examples of how we already use this and when we don’t (and hire a consultant for instance) how we always need to come back to purpose and principles.

Purpose is the answer to any difficult decisions.  When purpose or principles are not defined, projects flounder.  Amazing.

IMG_1839“When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system,
a literary dogma, we become automatons, we cease to grow.”

–Anais Nin

“It is the function of art to renew our perception, what we
are familiar with we cease to see.  The writer shakes up the familiar
scene, and, as if by magic, we see a new meaning in it.”

–Anais Nin

“Life shrink or expands according to one’s courage.”

What Child Is This? by The Smoking Meatwhistles (1995)

Song from the 1995 All-Time Christmas Favorites album by myself and Tom Brzezinski – that big guitar sound was actually a small 3″ door speaker that I pulled out of my 73 Mustang before I junked it.

The entire album is available for free – like all of my music – at jimlemanowicz.bandcamp.com/album/all-t…es-1995-mix

In shades of electric blue, ruby red and black and white, photographer Lucas Zimmermann transforms mundane traffic lights in Weimar, Germany into an enchanting light show. The project is simple in concept, but absolutely beautiful in execution. ‘Traffic Lights’ was captured late at night on a foggy, vacant intersection.
