Musical prompt: Invert a familiar melody or harmony to create a sense of strangeness or wonder.
As an example, I’ve taken a bit of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Then I inverted it in Ableton Live.
Then I took both of these little bits of audio, layered them and slowed them down, to produce this.
How about you?

https://youtu.be/he6PoWAqqzw I recorded this for Blissville Electro-Magnetic Laboratories & Blister Pop Unlimited in Massapequa, NY, USA on 27 Jan 2024.
Instruments – Ableton Live 12 beta, Collatz M4L Sequencer by Ithkaa, Europa by Reason Studios, native Live devices.
https://youtu.be/CRUHrg3lQX0 I recorded this for Blissville Electro-Magnetic Laboratories & Blister Pop Unlimited in Massapequa, NY, USA on 26 Jan 2024. I was particularly inspired by a post by Don Cross, the creator of the Sapphire plugins/modules for VCV Rack. I am using his Frolic in this video.
Instruments – Audible Instruments’ Braids Macro Oscillator, Don Cross’ Sapphire Frolic, Aaron Static’s ScaleCV, Clement Foulc’s Peak and a whole pile of native VCV Rack modules.
Musical prompt – Take something that was designed for one purpose and use it for another.
For instance, if you have some modular or semi-modular gear and something like a simple drum machine that sends sync, check the voltages & if appropriate, use the sync output as a modulator. Or, if you have an acoustic guitar, cover it with a pillowcase and tape and use it as a drum.
